Meet Brian Pelkey, CPO

Brian Pelkey is a co-founder of New Beginnings Orthotics and Prosthetics.  Brian is an American Board Certified Orthotist and Prosthetist and has been a practitioner for 17 years.  He received his undergraduate degree from Rhode Island College Cum Laude.  He obtained his Graduate Certificate in Orthotics from University of Connecticut and his Prosthetic Graduate Certificate from The University of Hartford. 

Brian was first exposed to the field of Orthotics and Prosthetics 30 years ago when he himself became an amputee.  Being an amputee, Brian has firsthand knowledge of the daily obstacles of living with limb loss.  Brian started his Orthotic and Prosthetic career with an internship at Connecticut Children’s Medical Center in Hartford.  He completed both Orthotic and Prosthetic residencies at Northeast O and P in Providence RI.  Participating in the orthotic and prosthetic team at Rhode Island Hospital/Hasbro Children’s Hospital he is often called on for amputation consultations by many attending and resident physicians.  He has provided many in-services and presented at Grand Rounds for Physicians regarding amputations and prosthetics.

As a member of The Academy of Orthotics and Prosthetics, Brian stays up to date on the latest technologies available to practitioners of O and P.  He frequently uses laser data acquisition systems, microprocessor and myoelectric prosthetics.   Through many years of hard work, research and continuing education he has successfully treated thousands of cases of Scoliosis, deformational plagiocephaly, cerebral palsy, amputations and all other conditions requiring Orthotic and Prosthetic intervention.
